When Every Setback Felt Like Failure

//

Hi, I'm Veronica, Scrachee's founder.

There was a time when every setback felt like a personal failure. If my son started bleeding again, scratched more than usual, or another eczema flare appeared, I didn't see it as a setback. I saw it as proof that I was failing him.

I remember texting my mom things like, "He's bleeding again." "I don't know what to do." "He's getting worse." But if I'm honest, what I was really trying to say was, "I'm scared."

Scared this would never end. Scared there wasn't a way out. Scared we were putting so much time, energy, and love into helping him, only for nothing to change.

When you're in the middle of something this difficult, it's so easy to believe that life will always look like this. That this is your new normal. That you'll never breathe easily again. That your child's skin will never improve. That you'll never sleep through the night.

If I'm being honest, there were moments when I truly believed we weren't going to make it through.

I cried.

I prayed.

I leaned on the people who loved me.

And there were days when I felt completely empty.

But I kept going.

Not because I felt strong.

Because I was a mom.

And when you love someone that deeply, you keep showing up, even on the days when you feel like you have nothing left to give.

Looking back now, I've realized something.

It wasn't that I was stronger than everyone else.

It's that we're capable of so much more than we think we are.

And so are you.

If you're reading this while you're in one of those dark seasons, if you've been searching for relief for what feels like forever, or if you're wondering whether anything you're doing is making a difference, I want you to know that I understand exactly how it feels.

And I also want you to know this.

The way you feel today doesn't mean you'll feel this way forever.

Even if you can't see it yet.

Even if it feels impossible.

Even if you're exhausted.

Take it one day at a time.

Talk to someone.

Cry if you need to.

Let it out.

Ask for help.

And remember, you don't have to do everything perfectly to keep moving forward.

Because sometimes victory doesn't look like a dramatic transformation.

Sometimes victory is simply choosing not to give up.

With love,

Veronica
