Why This Mission Became Personal...

It all started when my son was just two years old. He was diagnosed with eczema, and like many families, we followed the traditional route: topical steroids. At first, it seemed to help… but soon we found ourselves trapped in a painful cycle. We would use them, his skin would get better, we would stop, and the flare-ups would come back stronger. Over and over.

By 2020, we were deep in it. His skin had become fragile, and his suffering was unbearable. I searched everywhere for help, but every answer left me feeling dismissed, confused, and very alone.

As a Puerto Rican mom raising my family in the U.S., I didn’t see anyone who looked like us talking about eczema—no stories, no resources in Spanish, no community. That silence made the journey even lonelier.

Nights were long and painful. He cried in his sleep, and I sat beside him, holding his hands so he wouldn’t scratch himself raw. Every product we tried only seemed to make things worse—stinging, burning, or causing more discomfort. Nothing felt safe. Nothing felt right.

That’s when I made the decision to find another way.

Discovering Topical Steroid Addiction, The Withdrawal & Our Turning Point

I later learned he was going through Topical Steroid Withdrawal (TSW) — a devastating process from prolonged steroid use. I dove into research, studied non-stop, and began formulating our own skincare products from our tiny apartment. We changed everything: the products we used, the foods we ate, even the way we approached stress and healing.

By 2021, my son’s skin was finally healing. We found comfort in the products I created and the lifestyle shifts we embraced. And by June 2022, Scrachee was born ... created from our hardest nights, our story, and the hope to light a better path for other families walking through the same darkness.

Our NEA Seal Moment

When our Soaked Body Cream earned the National Eczema Association Seal of Acceptance™, it was more than an award — it marked the journey from a desperate mom mixing formulas at home to creating something proven, tested, and trusted by eczema families everywhere.

For us, this seal symbolizes love turned into purpose — the belief that even from humble beginnings, we can create something safe, effective, and recognized at the highest level. Coming from a small island and building a brand in a new country makes this achievement even more special. It represents every family who’s ever felt unseen, every parent searching for safer options, and every dream that once felt too far away.

Today, our mission goes beyond soothing skin—we’re bringing representation, education, and hope to eczema sufferers and caregivers, especially within the Hispanic and Latino community, where eczema and TSW are rarely talked about.
