Hi, I'm Veronica, Scrachee's founder.
One of the things that completely changed the way I looked at eczema was finally understanding what was actually happening underneath the skin.
For the longest time, I thought eczema was just about dry skin.
Dry skin meant cream.
That was the extent of my understanding.
But over the years, I realized there was so much more going on.
Yes, we see the rash.
The redness.
The dryness.
The scratching.
But those are only the things we can see.
Underneath, the skin barrier is compromised.
Imagine your skin like a brick wall.
The skin cells are the bricks.
The lipids are the cement holding everything together.
In healthy skin, that wall stays strong and keeps moisture in while helping keep irritants out.
With eczema-prone skin, some of that "cement" is missing.
Tiny gaps can form.
That means water escapes much more easily, which is one reason eczema-prone skin often feels so dry.
Those gaps also make it easier for irritants, allergens, and bacteria to interact with the skin, which can contribute to inflammation and itching.
Then comes something called the itch-scratch cycle.
The skin itches.
You scratch.
The barrier becomes even more disrupted.
That leads to more inflammation.
More itching.
More scratching.
And before you know it, you're stuck in a cycle that's incredibly difficult to break.
Learning this connected so many dots for me.
I finally understood why one product alone didn't always feel like enough.
Compromised skin doesn't just need moisture.
It needs hydration.
It needs nourishing lipids.
And sometimes it needs a protective layer to help reduce moisture loss so that hydration can last longer.
Suddenly, our routine made sense.
The cream helps hydrate the skin.
The oil helps replenish nourishing lipids.
The balm helps create a protective layer that supports the skin barrier and helps keep moisture from escaping as quickly.
That's why I stopped thinking about products individually and started thinking about how they work together.
Of course, eczema isn't only about what's happening on the outside.
There's also everything happening inside the body, and that's something I'd love to talk about in my next letter.
But understanding the skin itself was the first time everything finally started making sense to me.
When you understand why you're using each step of a routine, you stop guessing.
You start making intentional decisions for your skin.
And honestly, that's one of the biggest gifts this journey has given me.
If you're navigating dry, itchy, eczema-prone skin and wondering where to start, this understanding is exactly why we created our Barrier Hero Bundle.
Instead of relying on a single product, it combines hydration, nourishing lipids, and lasting protection to help support the skin barrier through every stage of your routine.
With love,
Veronica
