Every Flare Felt Like We Were Starting Over

//

Hi, I'm Veronica, Scrachee's founder.

There was a time when every eczema flare-up felt like a personal failure. If my son started bleeding again, scratched more than usual, or a new flare appeared, I didn't see it as a setback. I saw it as proof that I was doing something wrong.

I remember texting my mom things like, "He's bleeding again." "I don't know what to do." "He's getting worse." But if I'm honest, what I really wanted to say was, "I'm scared."

Scared that this would never end. Scared there wasn't a way out. Scared that we were doing everything we could, and none of it would matter.

Because when you're in the middle of a difficult eczema journey, it's so easy to believe that this is how life will always be. That this will become your new normal. That your child will never sleep through the night again. That you'll never stop worrying. That their skin will never get better.

If I'm being completely honest, there were moments when I truly believed we weren't going to make it through. I cried. I prayed. I leaned on the people who loved me. And there were days when I felt completely empty.

But I kept going.

Not because I felt strong.

But because I was a mom.

And when you love someone that deeply, you keep showing up, even on the days when you don't think you have anything left to give.

Looking back now, I've realized something. It wasn't that I was stronger than everyone else. It's that we're capable of so much more than we think we are. And so are you.

If you're reading this while you're in one of those dark seasons, if you've been fighting for relief for what feels like forever, and if you're wondering whether anything you're doing is making a difference, I want you to know that I understand. I've been there.

And I also want you to know this.

The way you feel today doesn't mean you'll feel this way forever.

Even if you can't see it yet.

Even if it feels impossible.

Even if you're exhausted.

Take it one day at a time.

Talk to someone.

Cry if you need to.

Ask for help.

And remember, you don't have to do everything perfectly to keep moving forward.

Because sometimes the biggest victory isn't seeing an overnight transformation.

Sometimes the biggest victory is simply choosing not to give up.

With love,

Veronica
